Dirang Village (Basti)

Dirang Dzong
Dirang Dzong Fort is a representation of the culture of the Monpas. This fort, built in 1831 A.D. served as a centre of all the administrative activities of the Monpas during those times. The fort is set atop on a hill top consisting of a four storied stone building. A wooden gate designed in local architectural pattern adds to the splendid uniqueness of the fort.
Jaswant Garh
The resting abode of the valorous son of the soil, Jaswant Garh is the memorial place built in honor of Mahaveer Chakra awardee (posthumously), Jaswant Singh Rawat. It speaks of the indisputable spirit of this patriot who fought continuously for 72 hours (along with 2 other soldiers) killing 300 Chinese soldiers during 1962 Indo-China War.
Sela Pass
Sela is a high altitude mountain pass that acts as the gateway to Tawang. It forms the single and highly crucial connecting line between the Tawang and West Kameng districts. The pass rises at a height of 13,700 ft above sea level and is about 67 km.

Tawang

Bumla Pass
Bum-la is the pass from where Dalai Lama entered India escaping from Tibet and the Chinese Army. At present, the pass is a military border post for both Indian and Chinese army.
Sangetsar Lake

The lake was formed during the disastrous earthquake that occurred in 1950 A.D and The lake was featured in a Madhuri Dixit (Bollywood actress) dance sequence in the movie Koyla, as a result of which it has come to be called the Madhuri lake.
P T Tso Lake
Pangang Teng Tso or PT Tso as it is locally known, is a high altitude lake that is located at around 12,000 feet in the Eastern Himalayas of Arunachal Pradesh. Its name literally means grassy meadow.
PTSO lake for short as it is known in the town, this is an excellent attraction, at half way between Tawang and Bum La.
Bomdila
Bomdila is the headquarters of West Kameng district in the state of Arunachal Pradesh in India. Bomdila is famous for apple orchards. They are spread across large areas of the land. Nameri National Park

Varsey
Varsey Rhododendron Sanctuary is an offbeat location in West Sikkim at an altitude of 10000 ft. The Varsey Rhododendron Sanctuary or Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary occupies 104 km² in the Singalila Range in western Sikkim. It borders on Nepal to the west, and on the state of West Bengal to the south across the Rambong Khola stream. The rhododendrons bloom during March and April.
North Sikkim
You need to pre-arrange a special permit for visiting this restricted area that is issued from Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim.

Roosted at a separation of 4 kms from Mangan on North Sikkim Highway, Singhik is a beautiful town adorned with the magnificence of nature. The lofty ranges of Mt. Kanchenjunga looks staggering from Singhik viewpoint. This vantage point is arranged just on the wayside of Singhik.
Lachen
Lachen is a town in Mangan District in the Indian state of Sikkim. The name Lachen means “big pass”. The Sikkimese government promotes it as a tourist destination. The town forms the base to the Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake. An annual yak race, the Thangu is held there in summer.
Yumthang
It is popularly known as ‘Valley of Flowers’ and is home to the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, which has over twenty-four species of the rhododendron, the state flower. The flowering season is from late February and to mid June, when countless flowers bloom to carpet the valley in multicolored hues of rainbow. Yumthang Valley is approx 140 km from Gangtok, the Sikkim capital.
Thangu
Thangu Valley is located at 3950M on the way to Gurudongmar Lake and is the first place where you stop enroute Gurudongmar Lake.
Chopta Valley
The beautiful Chopta Valley (Around 4000 mtrs altitude) The hike downwards through the valley takes about 3 hrs starting from the base of Kala-Pathar and reaching down to Thangu Village. The hike gives an experience of being in high-altitude mountains and feeling it….Chopta Valley is about 26 Km from Lachen and one has to leave early morning (around 05 am) to reach Thangu Village.
Lachung
Situated at an altitude of around 9600 ft above sea level, Lachung is a famous mountain village in Sikkim known for its jaw-dropping natural beauty. As an attraction full of panoramic views and snow-covered landscapes, this village also serves as a base for various adventurous activities as well as Sikkimese culture.
Gurudogmar
Gurudongmar Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world and in India, at an elevation of 5,430 m (17,800 ft) according to the Government of Sikkim. It is located in the Great Himalayas in the Mangan District in the Indian state of Sikkim, The best time to visit Gurudongmar Lake is during the pre-monsoon season from March to June when the weather is pleasant, the skies are clear, and colorful rhododendrons and other flowers are in bloom.
East Sikkim
You need to pre-arrange a special permit for visiting this restricted area that is issued from a place called Rangoli. The permits are also issued from Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, Zuluk, It derives its tourism importance due to the excellent view of the eastern Himalayan mountain range including the Kanchenjunga. It was once a transit point to the historic Silk Route from Tibet to India.
Thambi View Point
Thambi View Point situated at an altitude of 11,600 ft. above sea level offers an excellent sunrise view. The entire Eastern Himalayas are clearly visible from this top. offers a panoramic view of Mt. Kanchenjungha. Located at a distance of 14 km from Zuluk on the famous zig-zag road.
Lungthung
Lungthung is a high-altitude destination situated in the Eastern part of Sikkim, India, famous for its breathtaking views and serene environment. Lungthung view point is located at the elevation of 13000ft in the famous “Silk route” between Zuluk and Nathang Valley.
Nathang Valley
This is the highest place in East Sikkim. The snow-capped mountains and the mesmerizing valley are something out of the world. Nathang is the most favored offbeat place in East Sikkim.
Baba Mandir
Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple, commonly known as Baba Mandir is a fantastic place to visit, atleast once….An Indian soldier whos body was never found after his death….You will see lot of military personnel as they believe Baba Harbhajan Singh saves them from all difficulty.
Kupup Lake
A high altitude lake that resembles an elephant, Kupup Lake is one of the delights of Gangtok, and is a stop on the Silk Route tour. Also known as the Elephant Lake, it is situated at a height of 13,066 ft on the way to Jelep la Pass, bordering India and China.
Memencho Lake
Memencho Lake or Menmecho Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes of Sikkim at an altitude of 13000 feet. Surrounded by untouched pine forests and deep slopes, Memencho Lake is said to change colours every minute. The lake is fed by the waters of the surrounding mountains of Jelep La Pass and stays frozen from January to May.
Changu Lake
Tsomgo Lake or Changu Lake is perched within mountains at an altitude of 12,400 ft. Located at Gangtok – Nathula Highway only 37 kms. from Gangtok, the Changu Lake is one of the most spectacular landscapes of Sikkim. Changu Lake is also the place of origin of Lungtse Chu River.
Nathula Pass
Nathula Pass is a mountain pass in Eastern Sikkim, on the Indo-Chinese border that serves as the trade link between India and China. Nathula Pass nestles at an elevation of 14,140 feet and ranks amongst the highest passes accessible by tourists via motorable road. The Old Silk Route through Lhasa, Sikkim and Eastern India used to cross through Nathula Pass. The other side of Nathula Pass is Chumbi Valley of Tibet.
Best time to visit Sikkim
